The Madness That Is This Week

Doing a big show this weekend. My first one. Talking in point form. Up all night (and no, nothing to do with that weak-ass new show – sorry peeps, meh. Looks like it could be good, but in fact – overall? It’s sucks monkey balls. In my humble opinion.)

So. Up all night finishing plush and all sorts of other new product and stock…you can read about how I’ve managed over on the Babble’s today. Meanwhile, here’s a few pics of the madness.

Murderous Mondays

While I may not be dead (yet), I most definitely feel it. No amount of coffee, or vitamin D or smoothies can save me. Except maybe the Fedex man. He can make me smile.

The Babe, She Sleeps. At 1 Month Old Today!

The BSM is away on tour. This video of their Tom Foolery during a Robson Valley mudslide has some to do with their musical talent but all sorts to do with their plain awesomeness.

It’s a Girl! Introducing Abigail Mills. Blog Roundup & Pictures.

Middle name(s) to be established. You can read more about that here.

What an epic couple of weeks! It began with having a baby. A girl! Yay! Ruffles! Vintage dresses! Another female in the house.

Phew. Now we’re all on even playing ground, which, clearly – is necessary. For the sake of all boobs and neighbours involved.

It then continued with the WSL having the nastiest, most contagious virus ever. It was awesome. Yep.

I’m not going into a full tale of my Birth Story, as I’m saving that to pair with the video (it’s a documentary I said!) the BSM and I are working on.

What The Heck Yo!!!!!!!

As of Late

Custom orders seems to be where it’s at these days for me and my little Etsy Shop, here are some pieces I’ve done recently…

This fabric combo has been popular. Mix of soft vintage & organic flannels, backed with organic fleece by Michael Miller Fabrics. The softest I've ever touched!

Things are pure madness in this household right now…I know, how many times can I say that? But for reals. The new babe is due in a couple of months (Aug. 1) we’re still doing work on the new house, my Etsy Shop/Off-line sales are KA-booming, the new gig as Social Media Consultant for Borealis Records is not the new one anymore. I’ve just taken a contract with a *yet to be officially announced until i commence on June 1st* on-line parenting/news wire. Oh boy. How do I do it? Well, the WSL is in daycare 3 days per week, I have a pretty awesome man who helps out around the house (sometimes with a gentle prod, nibble or goose), great friends who really support me and help keep me sane.

But seriously – I am also sourcing out. Hiring a weekly cleaner for one. I’m posting a Craiglist & Kijiji job ad looking to hire a part-time/seasonal seamstress. This means creating a Policy & Procedure Manual, measurement & stitch flow charts and finishing some of my templates/patterns and the training that will ensue, but yes. In the long-run will cause me less stress, manic: holy-shit-I have-all-these-Etsy-orders-and-crap-I-have to-do-research-for-that-article-and-finish-writing-it-oh-and-the-laundry-mountain-is-growing-past-my-comfort-level-what’s for-dinner-ew-that-ring-around-the-tub-has-to-go-I-have-to-plant-my-garden-like-yesterday-get-on-hootsuite-and-stay-there-try-to-keep-up-to-date-on-all-things-indie/folk-music-industry/deadlines-tackle-mountain-of-admin-oy.-the-inbox-overfloweth-respond-to-people-now-lest-you-value-your-life-and…and, yea.

Less of that manic state more of; ahhh, I have time to breathe now and then. Time to play with my boy; endlessly read him stories, make

Where, Oh Where

Have I been? Painting, painting, painting. Designing kitchen islands and fireplace mantles, unpacking and organizing galore. Not to mention working on my new spring line, making application deadlines for summer fall and Christmas artisan shows and taking on a new contract as the ‘social media maven’ (?) for Borealis Records. Yes, the WSL in in daycare part-time.  Going on 2 weeks and he LOVES it. I am not that kind of super-woman.

We may not have done ‘hard-core’ reno’s…but yea. It’s been quite enough for us! Phew! (Not to mention the actual pack, move and the un-packing which can’t really be done till the painting is done, all with a toddler under-foot, WHEEeeeEEEee!

To Have & To Hold…

I’ve been a kick of creating Treasuries on Etsy lately, like this most recent one. And yes, it’s chock full of baby gift ideas. All chosen from Canadian sellers. This, my friends, was no easy task. But so rewarding in that I have found so many amazing fellow Canadian artisans! Bring on the trades! Even if you don’t have a little one – surely there is a carpet dweller on your list this year? If no, then keep a look out for some awesome Fashionista, Geekery, Holiday Decor and Gifts For Him Treasuries I’ll be putting together over the next few weeks. Just sayin’.

When last night this lovely Etsian notified me that she curated my Bear & Beaver Clan 3D Dreamcatcher Baby Mobile! What an honour! I seriously had to sit on my credit card when viewing the adorable elephant here, and the BSM are in discussions over ordering it for the WSL for Ecksmas.
Many of these shops offer custom work (at no additional cost),  gift wrapping and tagging (at little to no extra cost). Like mine. Big box stores, what? Who? Phhhht! Happy Shopping! Actually really, especially if you abhor malls, most especially during the holidays. Your welcome for introducing you to all of this awesomeness. Don’t mention it 😉

Steven & Chris, me & a Giveaway for YOU!

When I started this blog I really didn’t realize all of the awesome things that could come across my path in doing so. Like getting invited to a special taping of the Steven & Chris show. As a blogger. With a whole wack-doodle of other lifestyle and design bloggers. As in somehow, their web-guy/gal (s) had the specific task of finding all of the bloggers who they felt would be a good pick (me?!) for the audience and to blog about it afterward.

Proof Me

Ya’ll probably know by now about my little aspiring Etsy venture…well things are finally starting to come together. Joy!

I was away for the weekend and came home to a package dropped in my mailbox with proofs for my labels and business cards. I actually didn’t even know they had arrived until we were in bed, all cuddled up and about to pass out until the BSM was all casual like and said, ‘o yea, you’re proofs for rêve are here’. Trickster.
